EMU

Wind tunnel experiments at the University of Surrey.  Four test cases over L-shaped buildings, and one over an industrial site.  Wind tunnel 20 m long and 3.5 by 1.5 m cross section.  Hydrocarbon gas releases, concentration measured by flame ionization detectors.  Flow and concentration data as included in the report.

Hydraulic flume (water tunnel) modeling of dispersion over simple 1:200 obstacle arrays.  Flow fields were measured by acoustic Doppler velocimeters, and visualized with rhodamine dye tracer. Concentration data not yet available.

The Mock Urban Setting Test (MUST), 2001

Dispersion data available.  Regular 12 by 10 array of conex shipping containers (each 12.2 m long, 2.42 m wide, and 2.54 m high) that produced urban-scale roughness over a 200-m square area.  Propylene was released from positions within or immediately outside of the shipping container array.  Each release was either a plume from a continuous point source or a series of puffs.  68 useable trial events (63 continuous releases and 5 trials with multiple puff releases) were completed.  Concentration was measured using fast-response photoionization detectors (PIDs).  Extensive meteorological documentation included.
